چکیده
Introduction: Ineffective esophageal motility (IEM) is an disorder (EMD) and the most prevalent abnormality routinely observed in manometry. Objectives: In this study, we investigated clinical characteristics of IEM patients effects proton pump inhibitors (PPI) surgical treatments on their conditions. Patients Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted Isfahan 2019-2020 40 diagnosed with IEM. We collected patient demographic information (age, gender, previous medical history, medications, duration current problem) manifestations (clinical symptoms including dysphagia, heartburn, food acid regurgitation, chest pain belching) prior to following PPI or treatment. Results: Approximately 65% presented dysphagia 55% had 47.5% belching, pain. Post-treatment findings revealed that only recurrence regurgitation significantly lower treatment group than group. Only severity statistically significant compared other (P=0.042). group, heartburn (P=0.007), (P<0.001), (P=0.027) decreased baseline. Conclusion: showed common were belching. Moreover, resulted more improvements

Manometric Subtypes of Ineffective Esophageal Motility
OBJECTIVES Ineffective esophageal motility (IEM) is characterized by well-defined manometric criteria. However, much variation exists within the diagnosis: Some patients exhibit exactly the required five weak swallows to make the diagnosis. Others show consistently ineffective swallows with total absence of any normal swallow. "We hypothesize" there are two different manometric subtypes of IEM;...
متن کاملEsophageal Involvement in Scleroderma: Clinical, Endoscopic, and Manometric Features
Aim. To evaluate characteristics of esophageal involvement in scleroderma. Methods. The study was prospective and concerned 194 patients with a definite systemic sclerosis. Gastroesophageal endoscopy and esophageal manometry were performed in all the cases. Results. Symptoms were present in 118 cases (60.8%); they were signs of GERD or dysphagia, respectively, in 94 (48.4%) and 91 patients (46....
متن کاملManometric and demographic predictors of incomplete bolus transit in patients diagnosed with ineffective esophageal motility
Background neffective esophageal motility (IEM), or frequent failed peristalsis in the Chicago Classification, is a common motility abnormality describing a non-specific manometric pattern of peristaltic failure. With the addition of multichannel intraluminal impedance technology to high resolution esophageal manometry (HRM), evaluation of bolus transit simultaneously with esophageal contractio...
متن کاملRelationship between esophageal clinical symptoms and manometry findings in patients with esophageal motility disorders: a cross-sectional study
Background: Manometry is the gold-standard diagnostic test for motility disorders in the esophagus. The development of high-resolution manometry catheters and software displays of manometry recordings in color-coded pressure plots have changed the diagnostic assessment of esophageal disease. The diagnostic value of particular esophageal clinical symptoms among patients suspected of esophageal m...
متن کاملDo the Data Support Manometric Subclassifications for Ineffective Esophageal Motility?
We read the article by Hiestand et al. entitled, “Manometric Subtypes of Ineffective Esophageal Motility” with great interest. The authors have presented subclassification for the manometric diagnosis of ineffective esophageal motility (IEM) which is defined as≥50% ineffective swallows. Authors have subclassified IEM into more severe IEM-Persistens (IEM-P) and less severe IEM-Alternans (IEM-A) ...
